A cover letter isn’t a summary of your resume
You should know that a cover letter isn’t supposed to be a summary of your resume. They already know the details that it carries, they have a copy. What they don’t know is, what kind of a person are you? You should write why you would be better for this job and why you applied in the first place. Make sure to write the truth and make sure that it is not generic. Never pick up a sample from the internet and send it. They’ll know if you do that and it will reflect poorly on your résumé.
Talk the talk and walk the walk
The famous proverb is what you must follow. You should address them a person that position already would. You should have a detailed idea of what the company stands for and what they’re looking for in a person and become that person on paper.
Make sure that you read and re-read your cover letter for any typos or grammatical errors. While it may not matter when you are practicing how to write a cover letter in class, it matters now. Your job might depend on it. While they aren’t looking at your writing skills, typos are a sign of carelessness, and that is definitely a quality that no one needs at the workplace.
What to include
The cover letter should start off from the top right corner in which you must write your name and give them your number. Make sure to be available at that number at all times. Apart from that, you should also mention your professional email. After you’re done with that make sure to name the person you intend to send it to, the place they work at and their email if you have it. The second thing is the body. In which you try to explain why you want the job and why you’re best for it. You should also mention other activities that may further aid your job eligibility. Rather than stating facts, you should make sure that your communication skills are put to use while you write a cover letter. After that, you can address any problems that you may in a line or two before you come to a conclusion
You should give it a formal conclusion and make sure to read it and reread it before sending it further.
