Not only are these internet business ideas extremely lucrative, they are also “low cost” businesses you can start today.
Here’s the deal: You don’t need a list of 50 internet business ideas to help you make money online. That crap is all over the internet. Those lists are filled with “job like” ideas that can make you some money, but likely won’t give you the financial freedom you truly seek.
What you’re looking for is a small handful of business ideas that are proven to make a lot of money. And that’s what you’re getting today.
Before I get into them, I need to stress that these are BUSINESSES you are setting up. Not a little “side hustle” to make a bit of coin here and there.
If you want to quit your job and be your own boss, then treat your business like a business. That’s how you’ll make six figures a year.
One more thing about businesses…
A business does two things when you take a step back and look at it from a birds eye. You must focus on these 2 things to succeed:
- You need to create something valuable that people want
- You need to market the crap out of what you’re selling.
Also… There are many things YOU need to do in order to create a successful online business. But, there’s one thing that you absolutely need to have if you want to create a thriving online business.
And that thing is a SKILL in something that is in demand.
Without a desirable skill, you don’t have anything people want, and people certainly don’t buy things they don’t want.
I’ll get into more about how a useful skill integrates with an online business. I’ll also share some tips and best practices on how to start an online business, with several ideas and examples to help get your mind thinking.

1. Start A Blog Or Website
At the top of my list, and something I’ve been doing for a very long time, is making money with a blog or website.
It’s at the top of my list because you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly, and you don’t have to put in much money to begin with.
blogging is the best online business opportunity IMO.
Not only that, you can reach anybody online with your blog. These people are all potential customers who can buy what you’re selling, and provide you that financial freedom you’ve always been looking for.
Now, I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve heard of blogging. Maybe you’ve even started a blog already before.
The problem with blogging is that most people don’t have a clue on how to do it properly. They set it up, write some stuff, and nobody visits. Then they call it quits.
So I wanted to give a little bit of a “low down” on the keys to making six figures blogging:
1. You need to pick a lucrative niche
When you’re choosing a blog topic, choose something that people spend money in. Dating, Health, and Wealth are the big 3. People will spend money in these areas when the economy is in the crapper or when the economy is exploding. It’s ever green, and this is where I recommend you go as well.
You’ll want to choose a subset of a market. So if you wanted to build a blog in the relationship niche, then you could perhaps choose dating for seniors, dating for socially awkward men, dating for single moms, etc.
2. You need to create content that is better than what others are putting out
You will want to create blog posts that is better than your competition. You don’t need to create the best stuff all the time, but you want to be near the top. I’ve never heard of a company making it big by being average, and it isn’t any different online.
3. You need to market the hell out of your blog
Spend about half your time producing content and the other half letting other people know about it. This is how you will attract visitors to your website and gain new customers.
A few ways to make money with your blog
a) Display ads on your website
You’ll get a few cents to a few dollars per click. A certain percentage of people that visit your website will find an ad relevant and click. So the more people you get to your website, the more clicks you’ll get, and the more money you’ll make. It’s as simple as that.
b) Sell digital products
One of the most lucrative things you can sell is a digital product. You can sell your own digital products that you’ve created or sell other people’s. Digital products are great because you can charge a lot of money for them. It’s not uncommon to see an ebook for $50+. Delivery of an ebook is quick and simple (don’t have to hold inventory) and once the product is made, it’s made!
c) Refer people to other businesses
Business need “leads” to make money. You can funnel people that visit your website to another website that pays you to send people to them.
One of the most popular ways this is done online is places like Expedia or Trivago. If you had a travel blog, you can tell your reader to visit Expedia to book a hotel. If they do exactly that, you will get paid a “referral fee” from Expedia. I think it might be something like $6-$10 in this example.
Again, the more visits you get, the more people will get referred to Expedia, and the more money you’ll make. That’s how it works.
You can refer people to TONS of different places. A finance blog can refer people to sign up for credit cards, auto insurance quotes, or to check their credit history. Again, if you choose an industry that has a lot of money flowing around (health, wealth, relationships), there will be plenty of ways to make money from your blog visitors.
The one requirement of a successful blogger…
If you want to turn blogging into a serious online business, then you need to be an expert on something.
Either that, or you need to LEARN and become an expert on something valuable.
You don’t necessarily need to be the smartest and most intelligent person on your subject matter, though that helps, but you certainly need to know what you’re talking about.
Because you’ll be creating content about your subject matter and you need people to trust you and take your recommendations. And the best way to get people to trust you is to really know your stuff.
So find what you’re passionate about, or have a lot of knowledge on, or an area where you’re willing to learn a lot about, and turn that knowledge into useful blog posts that people get A LOT of value from.
For example, I know a lot about blogging and making money online. So I am creating this (hopefully) valuable blog post to show you how to make money with an online business. I could also recommend products on this page that are relevant to helping you get what you want out of your business, and make a commission if you decide to buy. That’s how it works. That’s how you make money with your blog. Rinse and repeat.
2. Offer Online Coaching
Making money coaching people has very little limits.
It really comes down to how knowledgeable you are, and how well you let the world know about your coaching program.
People all over the world need mentors and coaches to do whatever it is they do. Soccer players, online gamblers, guys who can’t talk to girls, you name it.
If you have a skill that’s in demand, consider helping others with an online coaching program.
You’ll want to set up a website and offer your service.
The nice thing about coaching is that it isn’t really like blogging, in that you don’t have to do a lot of writing and content marketing.
What you need to do is make an attractive website (or pay someone to do it), create a strong coaching program, and then market, market, market, and market some more.
People all over the world need your help. You just need to show them that you’re the right person to help them.
You can charge hundreds, even thousands of dollars for coaching
About 5 years ago, I paid a online business coach $1000 to show me how to make my own products and market them. Today, he has grown his business to over 1000 students. He charges a few thousand dollars for his coaching now.
Do the math….
Coaching is extremely lucrative if you have a skill people need.
You don’t need a lot of clients, too. I’ve seen blogging courses being marketed at over $10,000. And people buy them. Because the person teaching it is legit, and there are people out there who are serious about their internet business.
3. Offer Consulting
Consulting is very similar to coaching, actually it’s pretty much the same thing.
The only difference is that you’ll be offering advice instead of mentoring, teaching, and hand holding – things that coaches do.
You’ll want to create a website to market your consulting business, and get on promoting it to potential clients.
I recommend starting with lower fee’s and even reduced fee’s to get testimonials and referrals, and give the best consultations ever.
As your brand grows, you can demand more money and higher quality clients.
I’d also try and target people with money (aka businesses). They have budgets for things like coaching and aren’t afraid to spend it.
4. Start A Web Design Company
Every business needs a website. A business nowadays without a website doesn’t look legit.
So that’s where you come in.
If I was to go back to school and do it all over again, I might trade my economics degree for a skill like web design.
Because web design is a HIGLY demanded skill. Not only that, people pay thousands of dollars for a website. On top of that, people will also continue to pay you money to manage their website.
Look at it this way, business need to showcase who they are online. Most business owners don’t know a thing about making a presence online, marketing their business, or designing a website.
If you had these skills, you could charge a few thousand dollars to create the website, and a thousand or more for ongoing maintenance. And if you had online marketing skills, then you’ve hit the holy grail, because you could also charge thousands per month to market someone’s website.
Business have money, and they are the perfect target for a web designer. Imagine 5 businesses paying you 2 grand every month to run their websites. That’s 10 grand a month, and over 100k a year.
All while sitting at home in your underwear.
A few keys to running a successful online web design company
a) Target local business. Tell them their website looks like crap and you can make it much more attractive for a certain amount of dollars. Not only that, you can manage it for them every month for a certain fee, too.
b) Get a portfolio of your sample word ready to show off to potential clients. They want to see what you’ve done.
c) Get testimonials. Do stuff for free for them. You need to show potential clients what other people have said about you.
d) Record and positive results and show them off. If you created a new website and it has helped a business gain 1000% more customers, you better be recording that and showing it off to your new clients.
e) I wouldn’t settle for little jobs. You want to get in the habit of doing GREAT work and charging A LOT of money for it. That’s how you get rich. Apple does it perfectly. They make gorgeous products and charge out the ass for it. They are the most valuable company in the world because of it. Copy their model.
5. Start A Video Creation Company
Closely tied with web design, you can also create videos for companies.
Companies need videos that clearly explain things like what their business is about, what their product does, or anything else the business wants to tell their customers.
videos are extremely engaging and easy to consume. They simply work.
You’ve I’m sure landed on many websites that has a video at the top and it starts playing right away. You probably stopped to watch at least a little bit of it to see if it is worth your time.
Well, creating an online business around making these videos for companies can make your wallet very very fat.
Here’s a dope bomb: Did you know that companies can pay $10,000 or more for these videos to be made?
And they’re only a few minutes long sometimes, too.
Charging that amount of money requires you to be really good at making explainer videos, and also having the ability to tailor it to the company brand.
This is very very powerful stuff. It isn’t hard to see that you won’t need a lot of clients to make serious money with video creation.
How do you make money creating videos for companies?
Again, you’ll want a website that explains what you do. I think you can make your own explainer video to put at the top of your website :). Then you need to let businesses know about what you do.
I’d hit up local businesses. Get on the phone and make your pitch.
You probably won’t be able to charge $10k right off the bat. But a few thousand for a video is EASILY obtainable, so long as your stuff is quality.
6. Information Product Creation
I touched on this a little earlier when I talked about blogging. I said one of the ways you can make money with your blog is to sell ebook (informational products).
They are cheap to produce and cheap to get into the customers hands.
What you need to do is create an excellent valuable book that people will pay lots of money for, and market the crap out of it.
You can join a network like Clickbank who facilitates the transaction of your ebook sales. Or you can create your own shopping cart and sell it right off your website.
But the main thing is this:
Your ebook must be something people are willing to pay money for. You will want to create one of the best books on the subject. You therefore need to be an expert on what you’re talking about.
That is actually the easy part.
The marketing of your book is where the uphill battle starts.
Something you can do is to start a blog and create content around the topics of your book. For example, if you created a book about playing the guitar, then you can make blog posts about the basics of cords, melody, how to buy your first guitar, etc.
People will find your website, read your stuff and see that you actually know what you’re talking about, and see that you have a guitar lesson book for sale.
If they like you, and trust you, they will be a perfect potential customer.
Some tips on making and selling ebooks
- I’d consider getting into a market that sells expensive books. You’ll need to make less sales to make money.
- create add on products, like personal coaching, mentoring, an exclusive club/group, etc. These value added items will increase the overall value of the cart, making you more money, and building your brand.
- This is YOUR book, so don’t be afraid to give your opinions and say how you feel things should be done. For example, Dave Ramsay, a popular finance guru, believes in the “debt snowball” to pay off debt. I personally think it’s 100% wrong. But that’s what he thinks, and that’s what he writes about in his books. Don’t be afraid to say the wrong thing. Just make sure to back it up with solid reasoning.
- You can always start small with a simple book and charge a small amount of money. Like less than $10. The only reason why you’d do this is to TEST the market to see if people are even willing to buy what you’re putting out there. If you make some sales, you know there is a demand for your book, and it’s give you the confidence to spend the time to create a full product.
